I would have never thought my peaceful lunch period of just eating a nice meal before going to my next class...would be such a disaster waiting to happen. As I sat crisscross on the wooden floor of the dojo, just trying to eat some good homemade bento, I have 4 eyes directly on me at the exact same time. First off, Shoru Yuki from the Anime Guild, which I've only come to be irritated with. She may be a good person at heart, but I'm starting to really doubt that.
Secondly, Noriko Naoko and her 'dog' from the Student Council. I already suspected before that they are probably in it to use me for whatever reason. Whether it's helping the school in this 'war', or just to keep students in check with the threat of a time property messing with them, I have no club. Actually, that makes me think...is my power dangerous? I know it sent me back 20 minutes and all, but considering I can find a way to control such an ability, using it wrong could end up making me a danger to society.
Then, there's Yuki's brother, who looks like he's a much more mature and friendly person than his sister. Maybe I should join the Martial Arts and Kendo club? I mean, maybe I could learn how to fight, even without my property. That could be good, but a part of me wants to know how my property actually works. It's like...I have to know it...or something like that. Either way, this might be high on my list. (And no, it's not high because they have food. Though, it may get an edge of the food is good.)
"Welcome, everyone. I wasn't expecting you guys to all come in during lunch break, but we have enough food to go around." Hideki broke the silence, making all eyes turn to him. I almost felt relief from not being the center of attention for a while. To think I was coming to this school in hopes of living a normal school life, but I can tell that it's been shattered because of a simple time property, to which I don't even know how it works yet.
"Mr. Shoru, I've seen that you've already invited a guest here. Are we being a nuisance or anything like that?" Naoko asked, which kinda threw me off for a bit. Is she being...actually thoughtful? That doesn't seem to fit her character whatsoever...unless there's something going on between them?
"Of course not. Anyone is welcome here as long as they have something of importance to handle...or, if they're related to me." Hideki replied, which made me incredibly curious about something, but I'll ask about that later. "In any case," Hideki continued, "it's already been 5 minutes. Let's eat." He decided, and in unison with the rest of the club members, they opened their bento and pulled out a second, empty bento with chopsticks already inside. Hideki pulled out 4-5 empty bento and passes them out to us. "Now, the rules are that you can only take one kind of item from a single bento. For example, I can take 3 egg rolls from Ms. Iroh and 2 seaweed rolls from Ms. Watou. Also, you can't take all of one kind without permission. With that, you all may begin to pack your empty bento as soon as my members put their packed bento on the table behind me."
After his members did like Hideki said they would, I was the first person to stand up and walk to the table. As I looked over it, I felt a sensation come over me that I haven't felt in a long time. Everything looked good to the point that I wanted to try everything at the table...but, I had to choose only one kind of food item, so I chose accordingly. By the time I had picked from the last bento, mine was looking pretty good. This is the kind of food you'd expect from a cooking club, which makes me curious why all these members know how to cook great food.
As I sat down, I had noticed how no one had gotten up before I did, which made me feel a bit awkward. Did I do something wrong...? 'Just sit down.' I hear, but the voice came from within my head instead of from someone's mouth. The voice sounded similar to Yuki's brother's, which made me instantly turn to him. 'Go on. Everyone will get up when you have sat down.' His voice rings in my head once again. Wait...did he have telepathy? Or was it something very similar to it? Either way...this was pretty weird as I sat down in my original spot. After I did so, like Hideki said, everyone got up and started packing their own bento while I tried to figure out what everyone's deal was.
Soon enough, everyone was sitting down in their original spots, their empty bento filled up with food now as everyone prayed before digging in. Using my chopsticks, I immediately went for the egg roll and rose it up to my lips to take the first bite. Surprisingly, it was a very good egg roll, but it could have been cooked a bit longer as the texture gave off that it was slightly under-cooked...why the fuck am I critiquing this egg roll in my head? Long story short, it's good. As I dug into other stuff, I couldn't help but think of slight suggestions for making said food a bit better. This wasn't really unusual, since I have done such things in the past. I remember when I accidentally said my thoughts out loud and made a few people angry.
"So, Ren," Yuki star- wait, since when was we on a first name basis?! "Why exactly have you came to the KMA club? I was thinking that you maybe had interest in it, but some part of me thinks that you just didn't want to go to the cafeteria." She spoke. It was a bit surprising in how well she hit the nail on the head...but, considering she has been stalking me, she probably figured that one out long ago.
"Well, actually...I was kinda interested in maybe being involved in this 'war' you guys talk about by getting better at fighting. I mean, if I don't have a good grasp on my abili- property yet, then the least I can do is be a good fi-"
"That will only get you half of the way, idiot." The dog, er, Daichi interrupted. "Also, I don't know how confused you are on the war part of this situation. I don't know who told about the current situation, but the kind of war this is...is certainly not one to be playing around about. People have gotten seriously injured...or worse, so instead of wasting your time with this shit hole, just join us already and we'll train you to control that property of yours. I mean, we're obviously the best choice out of the Stick Sword Fight Club here, or the Literature AKA Anime Geek Club." Daichi scoffed.
It was at that moment that the front door of the dojo opened wide in such a sudden kind of manor that I jumped and fell out of my seat. Even though I couldn't see it, someone had marched up to the table and a loud bang was heard from above. When I peeked my head from under the table, my eyes immediately identified the blue-haired guy from earlier. As I could see, Tetsu had Daichi by the collar of his shirt and was pressing him against the table with anger in his eyes.
"How dare you call us geeks?! Especially coming from a member of the Student Council, who prides themselves of running this school INTO THE DIRT!" He shouted, but Daichi was quick to land a fist to Tetsu's face, which made the blue hair warrior fall back on his back. Well, I would call him a blue hair psycho at this point, but I've barely known him, so identifying him as that is an insult to the guy.
"Don't put those filthy hands on me, or I'll give you a punishment worse than detention." Daichi retorted as he cracked his knuckles, proceeding to brawl it out with Tetsu.
"Uhhh..." Was the only thing that came out of my mouth as I watched the scene unfold before me.
"Oh, don't mind them. They usual fight every other week. I just laugh at them while I eat some popcorn, enjoying that fact that I'm nothing like those morons." Yuki proudly states. Yeah, you aren't one to get your hands dirty...but, that still doesn't keep you from spying on people. "In any case, I wouldn't say going for that option you suggested a moment ago isn't a bad idea, but it would be best if you just, first, learn about your property enough to determine what you can and can't do with it, and second, control it so that you don't become a threat to your own school, your friends, your family, or your own well being."
"Like missy said, yo-"
"Wait, missy?" Yuki interrupted Naoko, to which I just sighed as they started throwing insults back and forward.
"So," Hideki started, being one of the last people I can talk to who wasn't engaged in their own fights, "I believe Yuki-chan was a bit right with what she said about you learning your property and controlling it. But, getting fighting experience can also benefit a lot. However, I'm not gonna ask you to join the club, or tell you that you have to. That decision is up to you and you alone." He finished. To be honest, I'm really impressed with Hideki in how he is as much above people like Yuki is, but instead of gloating over that fact, he acts like a kind of overseer and tries to give a middle ground answer. Maybe if Yuki could learn from him, she could be a good contender for a heroine.
Anyway, I think the best thing to do is make a decision right now about what club I wanna go in. Out of the 3, KMA Club is probably the club I could choose for learning how to fight in close combat while the Student Council will actually try to help me understand and use my ability with control, even though they may want to control me like a puppet. Though, I'm still a bit curious about the Anime Guild and kinda wanna get to know them a bit better. I mean, I only know 2 members. However, I must pick one club to be a part o- actually, wait. Who ever said I had to pick one?
"I choose all three." I stated, which made everyone turn to me with either curiosity or shock...but there was one person who just started clapping.
"Of course that's what you would pick, Tokachi-kun." Naoko said, almost like she predicted such a thing to occur.
